After a long, arduous process, I thought I found myself the perfect Outback to be my first legitimate Subaru. New heads, timing assembly, water pump, etc.- basically, all of the problem parts replaced. However, after one day of driving, a wrist pin made itself known, followed 3 weeks later by the transmission. My friend's auto shop (who I should have let inspect the car before buying) tell me it needs both engine and transmission replaced.
What I NEED to know is: what transmission and engine combo are best for the '01 Outback body?
It has the 2.5L, AT. I'm barely able to afford to do this, but if I can do a swap that gives me great performance and longetivity, I would prefer it.
Any real advice?
