    2004 Forester XT - CEL code 0741

    Hello,

My car has 125k miles. I read what this code entails. I'm hoping the transmission specialist will shed more light. Has anyone had this code and what was the outcome? Thanks for any insight.

Thanks. Sounds a bit like a vague and unclear issue. It sounds like I can drive it for a bit however.

Start by pulling the pan. First drain the fluid through some kind of filter, a paint one works very well, and see if there are any brass looking particles in it. Then gently pull the pan down trying not to disturb the fluid left in it. Then do the same with the pan, look for any metal or brass. Once thats down look up into the filter as much as possable and see if theres anything in it. The brass your looking for will indicate the bushing the torque converter rides on in the transmission is wearing or is worn out. The is somewhat of a regular thing on these cars especially once they get higher milage on them.
