i'm curious because i'm a newbie, i bought an 07' wrx wagon with 44k miles on it, after i put about 3k on it i got an oil change, driving around recently i noticed i have poor acceleration while the turbo spools? maybe i spun a bearing, but i am new to turbocharged cars so i'm unsure. also while i was getting an oil change the original air filter was in it, i thought that might be odd?
Well replace the air filter for sure. Does it burn any oil? Any sounds coming from the motor?

If you spun a bearing it would have a knock in most cases...I would be looking for a boost leak if you are not performing properly under boost but arent throwing any other codes or having any random sounds.
Ya, my first thought was boost leak.
it ate up the oil that was in the car when i bought it, i was super low when i went in to get it changed. But since, about 500miles, it hasn't been burning much if any at all. would i be able to hear a leak? am i about to fork out some serious $$$$?
Hear an oil leak? Uh no
Check the Turbo for shaft play
I think he meant hear a boost leak.....

yes i mean would i hear the boost leak, im getting decent boost, but it seems like the pull when i accelerate is inconsistent.
Pop the hood and try listening. I believe one of the tricks were to spray down your hoses with soapy water and watch for bubbles, also check to see that everything is on tight and correctly.
