well i got all of the old brakelines and such cleared out of the engine bay. now for cleanup and restoration stuff lol. only snag i have hit is how to get the 20 years worth of road grime and gunk. anyone have any ideas as to the best way to get rid of it short of media blasting the bay?
Muratic acid i think its called need to be in well ventillated area it make concrete white lol
Do not put muriatic acid near your car, Its highly corrosive and will pit all you metal as well as trying to dissolve aluminum altogether. Use parts cleaner or purple degreaser and a stiff brush. Spray on purple power full strength, hit with a good nylon brush, then hose off or pressure wash if you can. They also make small hand held sand blasters you hook up to a compressor.
Dont forget saftey glasses.
Well i used Good 'Ol Gunk engine Degreaser and it worked wonders to get that crap off. now the engine bay is almost completely primed. Now i need to get the transmission and cross member out. so i can get it ready for the AWD setup that i dont have yet lol. and i need to start working on cleaning and tearing down the motor for rebuild.

Look at you getting cranky in your old age...
haha very funny heidi.
Here are the pics i took yesterday working on the wagon
before using degreaser
After using degreaser
The Gunk Engine Degreaser worked well but there is only so much even the best degreaser can do.
