04Roobi's 04 WRX

Okay, thought I'd start a journal on here since I've been through so much with my Roobi girl.

I bought Roobi (PSM 2004 WRX) in April of this year from a private seller, a woman who had won the car in her divorce, not knowing how much trouble she would cause me, but I think its been worth it, now that I'm near the end of fixing her. She was fine until she overheated one day on my way to school for a final exam! That's when all the "fun" started.

The previous owner had replaced the short block and clutch in December of 2010 and had only put 200 miles on it when I got it.

Since I got her, I've put over $5,000 into her.

Here is what I have had to replace/fix so far:

-Upper Radiator Hose
-Water Pump
-Timing Belts
-Thermostat
-A/C Belt
-Head Gaskets
-Turbo to DP Gasket
-Intake Manifold Gaskets
-Turbo Inlet Hose
-Heads were shaved
-Flywheel was machined
-Cam Sprocket Bolts
-Camshaft Oil Seals
-Cam Seal Bolt
-Spark Plugs
-Timing Belt Idler Pulley
-Half Moon Cam Seals
-Upstream Air/Fuel Sensor
-Radiator
-Power Steering Lines
-Brake Pads
-Speed Sensor
-Rack and Pinion
-Neutral Safety Switch
-Passenger Inner Tie Rod End
-Tires
-Parking Light Bulbs
-Fog Light Bulbs
-Replaced Megan Racing Coils and Struts with Sti Struts and Eibach Springs

I still have a small oil leak that is coming from the passenger side valve cover, so I'll be fixing that soon AND just yesterday my crankshaft pulley cracked, causing it to break the key and the bolt worked itself out. The entire pulley fell off! I just ordered a new bolt, key, and a Perrin lightweight crank pulley. Good time to upgrade, right?

I feel like I've put the life back into her and I'm proud of myself for that since before I had her, I was just a woman without a clue of anything about engines. I've learned so much from this unfortunate experience, so at least I got something out of it She is Stage III, which I'm in love with because she has so much power, I think I need one of those "You just got beat by a girl" stickers on my rear window haha!

That is quite the list of work in just a year on a brand new engine. Its either not a brand new engine, or whoever assembled it did a shoddy job.

To save yourself from problems later on down the road, have a Subaru specialist take a good look at it and make sure everything is up to par.

Regardless, very nice car!

I completely agree with Rek's and John here.. Whoever did that either didn't know what they were doing, or didn't care. I feel like that woman didn't want the car anymore and thought she'd get it fixed by the lowest bidder just so she could get rid of it.

But regardless, it's a really nice car and you should be proud of it! It looks great and I'm sure it really hauls the mail!

Ya i'm pretty sure whoever replaced the short block didn't replace everything else to go along with it. Plus the previous owner obviously dogged the crap out of her, but my mechanic is amazing and he's a lifesaver for me! Plus he lives around the corner haha very convenient!

I'm taking really good care of her now.

Correct. Which I didn't know when I bought the car But She's in good shape now. Well, much better than before anyway since I've replaced so much.
