Cool Purchase Questions for a Pre-Loved Subaru Loyale, Outback/Legacy

    Hello,

I am in the market to buy a Subaru as my first car. I need a wagon to run my window washing business, car camping, transporting my kayak/canoe, and as well as daily transportation to and from school. I am asking for your opinion on what older Subaru to purchase. My two pics are an early 1990's Loyale wagon, or a late 1990's Legacy or Outback wagon. As you may be able to tell I like station wagons I know the Outbacks and Legacys have head gasket issues, but I am wondering what else I should look for in buying one. I would also like to know what to look for on the Leones as well. Thank You

In my opinion if you are looking for a wagon I would go with an early nineties legacy wagon. They have similar features to the loyale but have the full time all wheel instead of the part time of the loyale. They also don't have the head gasket issues the DOHC later 90s legacies had. It is a SOHC EJ22.

I was given a 1992 Loyale. Ask me anything you want.

I use it all the time. I get 35 in town and 30 climbing through the canyons near me. Dumb dude thought he threw a rod, it was a valve softly tapping a piston because the timing was off. Easiest fix ever. Plus, the interior is one of the best condition ones out there.
