Power steering fluid
As a female I’m trying to do as many things as I can in regards to maintenance and repairs myself. Can anyone confirm if this is the correct fluid. I went to the auto shop and they weren’t super helpful pointed my in this direction but it doesn’t say Subaru exactly. Can someone please help me out. If anyone has changed there fluid before I’d really appreciate it. I plan on watching a few YouTube videos to show me how it’s done.

Re: Power steering fluid
Give us year and model to help out. I know on the 09-13 foresters the power steering fluid and transmission fluid were the same.
Although the Subaru brand atf is made by idemitsu. I buy the idemitsu because it's cheaper.

Re: Power steering fluid
Saw this thread and it made me a little sad. Because right now I have a very same problem. I never had a car before, my dad passed away and I inherited his car. Got my driver's license last week. I know one mechanic, he said that I need to change transmission cooler but didn't tell me more. He said that his time costs money. And that's after I helped him with his computer for free. What an *******. Can someone here tell me where to find more information about these?
P.S. One of my friends sent me a transmission cooler review. Looks interesting. Can someone here check it out?

Re: Power steering fluid
I use idemistsu ATF hp in mine.
It's the same stuff as the Subaru fluid for my 09-13 forester
I buy it for 33.00 for 5 quarts off amazon.
My Forester uses it both in the transmission and power steering pump.
If doing a full trans flush with a flusher machine you'll need 9 quarts.
If just a drain and fill 4-5 will work for the trans.
You'll need another quart at least for the power steering.
That is if I remember all this correctly.
